Saturday Day One: Few sights on
earth can match the splendor and beauty of summer in New England USA. Your
summer in New England USA Coastal Tour begins when you leave your home
city today and fly to Manchester, New Hampshire. Here a tour representative
of New England Vacation Tours Inc. will greet you in the luggage area,
where you will be transferred to downtown Manchester to the Holiday Inn,
where we shall spend the night. This evening you will join us for your
Welcome to New England USA dinner at the Holiday Inn.
Sunday Day Two: Breakfast is on
your own this morning as we check out of the Holiday Inn and board our
deluxe motorcoach and head southeast to the Mystic, Connecticut area. At
our first stop today, we shall visit and explore Olde Sturbridge Village;
the entire village is typical of the 1800's with more than 40 houses, shops
and public buildings that vividly recreate the early American era. Lunch
is on your own today, and can be purchased right at Lodge at Sturbridge
Village. This afternoon we shall visit Groton, Connecticut the submarine
base, and home of the USS Nautilus Submarine. This afternoon we shall have
time to explore and tour the USS Nautilus Submarine. Our lodging this evening
is the Ramada Inn, in Norwich, Connecticut. This evening we shall visit
the world's largest casino, FOXWOODS CASINO, FOXWOODS CASINO is located
in Ledyard, Connecticut, on the Mashantucket Indian Reservation, with over
4,500 slots machines, and over 350 table games, from Black Jack to Poker,
Craps, Roulette, and Baccarat. A dinner buffet is included this evening,
and will be served at your own convenience right at Foxwoods Casino.
Monday Day Three: Breakfast is on
your own today, as we check out of our hotel and head southeast to the
beautiful port city of Newport, Rhode Island. Newport, Rhode Island is
better known, as the America's Cup City and home of millionaire row. Lunch
is on your own today and can be purchased right in downtown Newport, Rhode
Island. Early this afternoon we shall visit and tour Hammersmith Farms
built in 1887 by John W. Auchincloss. In 1953 John F. Kennedy was married
at Hammersmith Farms; this was the official summer White House from 1961
to 1963 while John Fitzgerald Kennedy was President of the United States
of America. (Property may be closed to the public for the summer & fall 2009)
Later on this afternoon, we shall visit and tour "The Breakers" a beautiful
mansion located on Ochre Point Avenue, over looking the bay. The Breakers
was built in 1895 for Cornelius Vanderbilt, it was designed by Richard
Morris Hunt and resembles 16th century Northern Italian palaces and the
grounds overlook the Atlantic Ocean and Cliff Walk. Our lodging for the
next two nights will be in Cape Cod and our dinner is included once again
this evening.
Tuesday Day Four: Breakfast is on
your own this morning, before we check out of our hotel. This morning we
shall sail away to the storybook island of Martha's Vineyard, aboard the
Island Queen…relax with sea and sky and wind on a delightful 40-mintue
cruise across the sparking waters of Vineyard Sound. Once we arrive in
Martha's Vineyard at Oak Bluffs, we will have a 1 ½ hour bus tour
of this beautiful and spectacular island. You will discover a gentler civilization
when you visit the fabled island of Martha's Vineyard. Oak Bluffs, where
we land with its Victorian gingerbread cottages colony…Edgartown, once
the whaling capital of the world, preserved as it was then. Lunch is on
your own today and may be purchased in either Edgartown or in Oak Bluffs.
Late this afternoon we shall sail back to the mainland aboard the Island
Queen.
Wednesday Day Five: Breakfast is
on your own this morning, as we check out of our hotel and head northeast
to Boston, Massachusetts…the birthplace of America. This morning we shall
visit America's hometown, Plymouth, Massachusetts. Today we shall see Plymouth
Rock, where the pilgrims first stepped onto the New World (America). Then
you will have time to visit and tour the Mayflower
II docked at State Pier in Plymouth Harbor. The Mayflower II was built
full size and recreates a typical 17th century merchant vessel. The Mayflower
II was built in 1955 and sailed across the Atlantic in 1957. Lunch is on
your own today, and can be purchased at Quincy Hall Marketplace in downtown
Boston. This afternoon we shall have a city tour of Boston, and travel
along the freedom trail and see such sites as; The First Church of Christ
Scientist "Mother Church', Old North Church, Fenway Park, Cheers, and so
much more. We will end our tour of historical downtown Boston with a visit
and tour of the USS Constitution which is more affectionately know as,
"Old Ironsides" the oldest commissionable ship in the U.S. Navy fleet today.
Our lodging this evening is at The King's Grant Inn and dinner is included
once again this evening.
Thursday Day Six: A continental
breakfast is included this morning, before we check out of our hotel. This
morning we shall visit Craggy Cape Ann, Gloucester, Massachusetts, a world
recognized fishing port on the waterfront. We shall see the famous Gloucester
Fisherman Statue, a memorial to the thousands who have lost their lives
at sea. It was here that Gloucester resident and fisherman; Clarence Birdseye
invented quick-freezing food in 1925 changing the eating habits of our
entire nation. Join us this morning for an exciting day out on the sea
observing nature's gentle giants, Whale Watching Tour. This morning we
shall sail off to Stellwagen Bank and Jeffrey's Ledge. Two great feeding
grounds and plentiful feeding grounds for the gentle giants. Lunch is on
your own today. Time
permitting this afternoon, we shall visit and tour the romantic artist
colony of Rockport, Massachusetts. You will find craft shops, eateries
and art galleries tucked along Bearskin Neck in recycled fishermen's' sheds
at the end of the pier. Motif # 1 is perennially popular subject for painters
and photographers. Our lodging this evening will at The Village by the
Sea Inn in Wells Beach, Maine. This evening we will be treated to a downeast
lobster clambake dinner with all the trimmings.
Friday Day Seven: Breakfast is on
your own this morning once again before we check out of our hotel. This
morning, we shall visit and tour the beautiful rocky coast of Maine. One
of our first stops this morning will be the beautiful port town of Kennebunkport,
Maine (The summer home of Ex-president George W. Bush). Today we will work
our way down the coast of Maine along scenic route one and visit a variety
of Maine's townships. Lunch is included this afternoon. This afternoon
we shall visit Kittery, Maine the outlet store capital of Maine. Late this
afternoon we shall visit Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Here we shall visit
Strawbery Banke Museum, which traces over 300 years of history in one of
America's oldest continuously occupied neighborhood. The 10 acre-site with
its more than 40 preserved and interpreted buildings, presents the full
span of an important seaport history. This evening our lodging will be
back at the Holiday Inn, in Manchester, New Hampshire. We cap off our tour
of coastal New England USA this evening with a refreshing and relaxing
farewell dinner at our hotel.
Saturday Day Eight: Breakfast is
on your own this morning. This morning at your convenience you may check
out of the hotel and take one of the hotel courtesy vans back to the airport
to make your return home. With many fond memories of Coastal New England
USA, and of your newfound friends in New England USA.
